An information technology accountant will be able to work at a professional services firm, in the accounting department of a private company or in government and non-profit sector. The rapidly evolving relationship between accounting and information technology means accountants now need to understand how technology impacts business, and how it can be used to improve operational efficiency, achieve regulatory compliance, support financial reporting and management and even increase revenues. They must also have an appreciation for how to capture and communicate technology needs for their business.
